Dokumentarisch, spielerisch, fiktional: Katrin Rothe erkundete während ihres zweimonatigen Aufenthalts im Gläsernen Atelier des Deutschen Instituts für Animationsfilm (DIAF) die Dresdner Computergeschichte. In ihrer filmkünstlerischen Neuerzählung der Russischen Revolution „1917 – Der wahre Oktober“ (2017) hinterfragte die zweifache Grimme-Preisträgerin multiperspektivisch, was heute als „die Oktoberrevolution“ bekannt ist. Flachtrick mit unterschiedlichen Materialien bestimmt die Ästhetik ihrer Arbeiten. Durch die Sichtbarmachung des handwerklichen und künstlerischen Prozesses wird das Zusammenwirken von Animation und Dokumentarfilm im Animadoc in seinem schöpferischen Potential greifbar.

Documentary, fictional, playful: Katrin Rothe explored computer history in Dresden during her two- month residence at the DIAF Open Studio in June and July. In her artistic re-narration as film of the Russian Revolution 1917 – The Real October (2017) Rothe, who has been awarded the Grimme prize twice, investigates what is now known as „The October Revolution“ from multiple perspectives. A great variety of manipulated flat visual materials determine the aesthetics of her work. The combination and creative potential of animation and documentary film becomes tangible in The Animadocs by making the practical and artistic processes visible.
