Dresden's museum landscape is characterised by a large number of collaborations and networks that contribute to the preservation and further development of cultural institutions. A central element is the co-operation between the museums and various partners. They ensure the quality and diversity of the exhibitions as well as the educational programmes and continue to expand them.

National and international co-operations

The Stadtmuseum Dresden, one of the largest historical museums in Saxony, is planning to fundamentally modernise its permanent exhibition in the coming years and to present further special exhibitions in cooperation with national and international partners. These partnerships make it possible to illuminate historical and cultural themes from different perspectives and to appeal to a broader public.

The Städtische Galerie Dresden, which is dedicated to researching and presenting Dresden's art production from the 19th century to the present day, also regularly participates in important national and international exhibitions. Through these co-operations, the gallery acts as an ambassador for Dresden's art and culture and thus strengthens the city's international reputation.

Education and outreach

The Technische Sammlungen Dresden, the city's technology museum and science centre, places particular emphasis on education and outreach work. In cooperation with schools and educational institutions, programmes are created that make technical and scientific topics accessible to children and young people. Open experimentation workshops and experience areas promote practical learning and social inclusion.

Interdisciplinary networks and future projects

One forward-looking project is the development of the former Robotron canteen into an interdisciplinary venue for contemporary art and a new location for the Kunsthaus Dresden. The interdisciplinary orientation and increased visibility of the new location will strengthen contemporary culture in Dresden in the long term.

The cooperation and networks of Dresden's museums are diverse and contribute significantly to the quality and attractiveness of the museum landscape. Through national and international partnerships, interdisciplinary projects and the expansion of educational work, Dresden will further consolidate and expand its position as one of the most important museum cities in Germany. The planned modernisations and the establishment of new locations will also ensure the future viability of the museums and appeal to new target groups.
