Student assistant for ERLEBNISLAND MATHEMATIK (Technische Sammlungen)

As a student assistant (Explainer) you work with our guests, you are »co-discoverers« and contact persons when exploring the ERLEBNISLAND MATHEMATIK. You will play a key role in making a visit to the Technische Sammlungen Dresden an unforgettable experience for all guests. Tasks include providing educational and didactic support and advice to visitors in the ERLEBNISLAND MATHEMATIK, organising and tidying up the experiments for use by subsequent visitors and answering visitors' questions about the Dresden Technical Collections.

Requirements

  1. Service-orientation and communication skills
  2. Empathy and enjoyment in dealing with guests of all ages
  3. Basic mathematical understanding
  4. Reliability and ability to work in a team
  5. Willingness to work flexible hours
  6. Enrolled student at the TU Dresden

Mediators in the Technical Collections

The Dresden Technical Collections combine a technology museum and science centre in the industrial monument »Ernemannbau«. Exhibitions on industrial history, photography, computing and communication technology, science, maths and climate take up more than 6,000 m² of exhibition space. We are looking for committed mediators to carry out educational programmes for various target groups on a freelance basis.

We are looking for people with

  1. Openness and empathy as well as a friendly and confident demeanour
  2. Enjoy working with school classes and other visitor groups
  3. Reliable work opportunities, especially on mornings and weekends
  4. Commitment and interest in the topics of our institution
  5. Expertise in the natural sciences as well as the humanities and social sciences


We offer

  1. Freelance work on a fee basis in an institution with a wide range of topics and a connection to regional industrial culture and current research and science
  2. Flexible working hours
  3. Experience in extracurricular mediation and educational work with different target groups

Scientific traineeship

The museums of the city of Dresden offer two scientific traineeships (information from the German Museums Association on traineeships at museums). The training takes place alternately in one of the following museums: Stadtmuseum, Städtische Galerie or Technische Sammlungen.

A university degree is required to apply for a traineeship at the museums of the City of Dresden. The next traineeship will be awarded for XXX.n.


Internship

Internship during your studies

An internship during your studies can be completed at the Städtische Galerie Dresden. The duration of the internship depends on the respective training and examination regulations and is not remunerated. 

Voluntary internships are not possible. 

Foreign applicants must have a fluent command of written and spoken German. Applications should be sent directly to the directors of the museums or to the heads of the institutions or departments. die Leiter:innen der Einrichtungen bzw. Abteilungen direkt zu senden.
