Fee schedule

The Fee Schedule specifies which fees are charged for certain services provided by the museums of the City of Dresden and the conditions under which they apply. These include fees for admissions, rentals and image services. The current schedule of fees comes into force on 1 January 2026. It was published in the electronic edition of the Dresden Official Gazette published on 29 December 2025.

Based on Section 73 (2) of the Saxon Municipal Code in the version published on 9 March 2018 (SächsGVBi. p. 62), which was last amended by Article 2 of the Act of 29 May 2024 (SächsGVBl. 5. 500), the City Council of the State Capital of Dresden adopts the following schedule of fees with effect from 1 January 2026. The schedule of fees dated 21 November 2013 thus expires.

1. Charges for admissions

1.1. general provisions

1.1.1 Reduced admission

On presentation of proof of authorisation:

• for school pupils
• for students and trainees
• for retrainees
• for those doing the Federal Voluntary Service (BFD) or the Voluntary Social Year (FSJ)
• for pensioners
• for tour guides
• 50% off the admission price for adults or concessions for people with disabilities with a GdB of at least 50%
• for holders of the Volunteer Pass, the Euroregion Elbe/Labe Culture Pass and for holders of special customer cards (contractually agreed discounts with various co-operation partners)

1.1.2 Free admission

On presentation of proof of eligibility:

• for holders of the Dresden Pass
• for members of sponsoring organisations / friends' associations:
  • for personal members of the Friends of the Museums of the City of Dresden only in the respective sponsored institutions
  • for members of the Saxon and German Museum Associations
  • for members of the International Council of Museums (ICOM)
  • for members of the Bundesverband Bildender Künstlerinnen und Künstler in the Städtische Galerie Dresden, the Kunsthaus Dresden and the Leonhardi-Museum Dresden
  • for members of the Dresdner Geschichtsverein e. V. at the Stadtmuseum Dresden
  • for members of the Heimatverein Prohlis e. V. at the Palitzsch Museum
  • for members of the German-Polish Society of Saxony - Society for Saxon-Polish Cooperation and Polonia-Dresden e. V. at the Kraszewski Museum
  • for members of the Carl-Maria-von-Weber-Kreis Hosterwitz e. V. and the International Carl Maria von Weber Society e. V. at the Carl-Maria-von-Weber-Museum
  • for members of the Dresdner Romantik e. V. in the Kügelgenhaus - Museum of Dresden Romanticism

and for:

• Children under 7 years
• Accompanying persons:
  • for accompanying persons of school classes, daycare groups, children's and youth groups
  • for teachers in preparation for museum visits and training courses
  • for people accompanying tour groups in connection with booking a guided tour
  • Accompanying persons of people with disabilities with a GdB of at least 50 % and the mark "B"
• Other:
  • for visitors to the Schillerhäuschen
  • for visitors to the DLR_SchoolLab
  • for visitors to the Turmcafé in the Dresden Technology Collections (applies only to the Turmcafé area, not to the entire building)
  • for tenants and their guests on the day of their rental in the respective building
  • for visitors on International Museum Day and in participating institutions on the "Open Monument Day" programme
  • for journalists with a press card
  • for holders of museum "complimentary tickets"
  • for volunteers working for the museums of the city of Dresden
  • for lenders in the respective institutions
  • in all municipal museums every Friday from 12 noon

1.1.3 Other regulations

• Group prices apply per person for groups of 10 or more (excluding children's and youth groups).
• The Maxi family ticket is valid for 2 adults and 1 to 4 children (up to and including 17 years of age).
• The Mini family ticket is valid for 1 adult and 1 to 4 children (up to and including the age of 17).
• Education and outreach programmes are calculated and determined according to effort, scope and material costs.
• For special openings, events, special exhibitions and other campaigns as well as co-operations, the office management can set separate fees.

The prices refer to a children's birthday party with a maximum of 8 children and 2 adults - including material costs and museum admission.

1.2.8 Loss of cloakroom keys / cloakroom tokens

1.2.9 Photo and film authorisation

• Permission to take photographs and film in the facilities of the museums of the City of Dresden for private, non-commercial purposes is included in the admission fee.
• Permission to take photographs and film in the facilities of the museums of the City of Dresden for commercial purposes is subject to authorisation and payment. The fees are calculated on a time and material basis.
• The provision and use of press material in the interest of the public relations work of the Museums of the City of Dresden is free of charge within the scope of current reporting.

The rooms to be rented (including equipment and conditions of use) can only be determined in concrete terms in the course of the refurbishment; only then can a calculation be made.

The rooms to be let (incl. fixtures and fittings and conditions of use) can only be specifically determined in the course of the refurbishment; a calculation can only be made then. Currently, only the garden can be rented out (there may be deviations due to construction work).

2.8 Technical equipment, guard and security service, cleaning

The rental prices do not include the provision or operation of technical equipment. Any costs incurred for this will be estimated and invoiced according to expenditure and scope via external service providers. The provision of security staff to safeguard the event is at the expense of the hirer and must be agreed with the security company from the framework agreement of the Museums of the City of Dresden. In the event of increased restoration costs for the cleanliness of the premises, the Museums of the City of Dresden reserve the right to charge the hirer for special cleaning.

2.9 Other regulations

• Separate rental fees apply for co-operations.
• No rental fee is charged for meetings of committees of the Dresden City Council and the city administration.
• For use for non-profit purposes or by holders of the Dresden Pass, a reduced fee of 75% of the regular rent will be charged.
• When calculating the usage fees, the amounts are rounded up to full euros.

3. Scientific services & image utilisation of the collection and library holdings

3.1 Scientific services

The museums of the City of Dresden may charge a fee of €35.00 per half hour or part thereof for written information, inventory research and the processing of enquiries.

3.2 Library holdings

The following fees are charged for the production of digital copies from the library's holdings: €1.00 per scan (PDF).

3.3 Digital reproductions of collection holdings

The museums of the City of Dresden permit the use of digital reproductions of the collection holdings for publication on application within the framework of the following regulations. Applications for image use and reproduction authorisation must be submitted using the application forms provided by the City of Dresden or the museums.

3.3.1 Fees for provision

The provision of digital reproductions of the collection holdings is based on the application for image use / reproduction authorisation.

The digital reproductions are provided by e-mail / up-load.

The digital reproductions are provided in a quality suitable for publication (JPEG / TIFF / MP3 / MP4).

The following fees will be charged:

3.3.2 Fees for production

The following fees are charged for the production of non-existent digital reproductions of the collection holdings:

If, in exceptional cases and after consultation with the user, external service providers are commissioned to produce images, the prices of these companies apply.

3.3.3 User fees for publication

The museums of the City of Dresden may grant the non-exclusive right of use for the one-off publication of digital reproductions of the collection holdings on application. Publications require written authorisation. This is granted in accordance with the provisions of the Copyright Protection Act, in particular in accordance with the following conditions of use:

• Specification of the type of publication
• Prohibition of unauthorised disclosure of the right of use granted by the Museums of the City of Dresden
• Changes to the digital copy are subject to authorisation and proof
• Obligation to cite proof of origin and photographer's name in accordance with the reproduction licence / in the case of digital publication, there is an obligation to provide linked proof of origin
• Obligation of the user to respect the rights of third parties, in particular copyright and related rights as well as personal and property rights
• Agreement on the delivery of specimen copies
• Claims for damages in the event of breaches of contract

The following user fees are charged for the publication of digital reproductions of the collection holdings:

3.3.3.1 Publication in printed matter

Printed matter such as books, catalogues, magazines, newspapers, brochures, leaflets, calendars, postcards, posters

Printed matter in exhibition contexts (signage, scenographic elements, advertising media, etc.)

3.3.3.2 Publication in e-books and PDF

In the case of simultaneous use in a print and digital offer, 50% of the costs of publication in print and 50% of publication in e-books and PDF are charged.

3.3.3.3 Publication in online services, digital offers and information systems / presentations as well as application software

3.4 Additional provisions

3.4.1 Exclusive use and exceptional cases are regulated separately.

3.4.2 Invoice transfers will be charged at € 35.00.

3.4.3 The Museums of the City of Dresden expressly point out that the user is responsible for safeguarding the rights of third parties (copyright and related rights as well as personal and property rights) in any form of image use.

3.4.4 A surcharge of 300% may be levied on the usage fee in the event of a breach of one or more provisions of the fee regulations.

3.4.5 All fees are net amounts and will be invoiced plus statutory VAT.

3.4.6 By placing a written order for scientific services, library holdings and digital reproductions of the collection holdings, the user recognises the fee regulations of the Museums of the City of Dresden.
